This is a shot from the traffic simulator that I am working on with a friend at university as a research project. We have been planning the project and working on the code for a number of months now. But it has really only been in the last 48 hours that we have really started cracking into it, as this semester is the semester that we are really meant to be doing work on it.
Last night I was trying to plan and figure out what variables I needed for the roads to generate cars. And without making too much of a story (because it is quite a bit of a long one), I ended up generating the initial cars, and getting them to move. Something I didn’t think would happen for at least another week. Anyway this morning, I have managed to get them to be aware of the car in front so they don’t crash up the back of it, and accelerate and stop, and other bits and pieces. The whole project has a long way to go (and a 20,000 word thesis as well), but this is some good progress.
Oh and I have attached the performance graphs as well to demonstrate that the cars don’t max out the cpu either.

Whoever said Lifehouse was a one hit wonder. Four albums down and they are still going strong. Their latest album, Who We Are, was released just over a week ago and I rate it amongst their best. Here are two songs from it, which I think are the best off the new album.
The broken clock is a comfort, it helps me sleep tonight
Maybe it can stop tomorrow from stealing all my time
I am here still waiting though I still have my doubts
I am damaged at best, like you’ve already figured out
I’m falling apart, I’m barely breathing
With a broken heart that’s still beating
In the pain there is healing
In your name I find meaning
So I’m holdin’ on, I’m holdin’ on, I’m holdin’ on
I’m barely holdin’ on to you
The broken locks were a warning you got inside my head
I tried my best to be guarded, I’m an open book instead
I still see your reflection inside of my eyes
That are looking for purpose, they’re still looking for life
I’m falling apart, I’m barely breathing
With a broken heart that’s still beating
In the pain is there healing
In your name I find meaning
So I’m holdin’ on, I’m holdin’ on, I’m holdin’ on
I’m barely holdin’ on to you
I’m hanging on another day just to see what you will throw my way
And I’m hanging on to the words you say
You said that I will be ok
The broken lights on the freeway left me here alone
I may have lost my way now, haven’t forgotten my way home
I’m falling apart, I’m barely breathing
With a broken heart that’s still beating
In the pain there is healing
In your name I find meaning
So I’m holdin’ on, I’m holdin’ on, I’m holdin’ on
I’m barely holdin’ on to you
I’m holdin’ on
I’m holdin’ on
I’m barely holdin’ on to you
Lots of argument has been had over the past few years about if Lifehouse is or is not a Christian band. I think it is very obvious in the lyrics to these two songs.
How long have I been in this storm?
So overwhelmed by the ocean’s shapeless form
Water’s getting harder to tread
With these waves crashing over my head
If I could just see you
Everything would be all right
If I could see you
This darkness would turn to light
And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be all right
I know everything is all right
I know you didn’t bring me out here to drown
So why am I ten feet under and upside down?
Barely surviving has become my purpose
Because I’m so used to living underneath the surface
If I could just see you
Everything would be all right
If I could see you
This darkness would turn to light
And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be all right
And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be all right
I know everything is all right
Everything’s all right
Yeah
Everything’s all right
Because the President of the Students’ Association was absent today I had to stand in and do a presentation at the Academic Welcome. This is the second time this week that I have had to wear academic regalia and this time they really messed things about. On Monday I wore black with a blue tie (representing Science) and today I went oh well I want to look cool as a student, so I wore an gold tie that my GF gave me (and got lots and lots and lots of comments about how nice it looked), and the Uni could only supply me with a Masters gown. The funny thing is that I was not allowed to wear a cap or a hood because I have not yet graduated.
Hamas TV on Friday broadcast what it said was the last episode of a weekly children’s show featuring “Farfour,” a Mickey Mouse look-alike who had made worldwide headlines for preaching Islamic domination and armed struggle to youngsters.
In the final skit, Farfour was beaten to death by an actor posing as an Israeli official trying to buy Farfour’s land. At one point, Farfour called the Israeli a “terrorist.”
“Farfour was martyred while defending his land,” said Sara, the teen presenter. He was killed “by the killers of children,” she added.
The weekly show, featuring a giant black-and-white rodent with a high-pitched voice, had attracted worldwide attention because the character urged Palestinian children to fight Israel. It was broadcast on Hamas-affiliated Al-Aksa TV.
Station officials said Friday that Farfour was taken off the air to make room for new programs.
Station manager Mohammed Bilal said he didn’t know yet what would be shown instead.
Israeli officials have denounced the program, “Tomorrow’s Pioneers,” as incendiary and outrageous. The program was also opposed by the state-run Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation, which is controlled by Fatah.
